2-Methylnicotinic acid methyl ester is a synthetic chemical compound that belongs to the isomer family. It has been used in the synthesis of cocaine and isomers, as well as in the modification of drugs. 2-Methylnicotinic acid methyl ester can be synthesised from 2-methylpyridine and formaldehyde via the method of methylmagnesium iodide. 2-Methylnicotinic acid methyl ester has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of human platelet aggregation, which may be due to its structural similarity to nicotine.
