Descrizione:2-Methoxy-6-methylphenol (2MMMP) is a phenolic compound that is used in vitro to study the reaction of methoxy groups and acid catalysts. 2MMMP has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the demethylation of vanillyl alcohol in the presence of hydroxyl groups. This reaction produces aldehydes and ketones, which are potential use products. The high concentration of 2MMMP can be obtained through chemical reactions with other chemicals, such as sodium methoxide or potassium hydroxide. 2MMMP is also useful as a wastewater treatment agent. It has been shown to inhibit bacteria and fungi, break down organic matter, and reduce odors in wastewater.
