Descrizione:3-Methoxyisobenzofuran-1(3H)-one is a methylated derivative of the natural product, methanol. It can be used to synthesize juvenoids, which are compounds that are structurally similar to steroids and have been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. 3-Methoxyisobenzofuran-1(3H)-one has been shown to be an effective diastereomer in the synthesis of protoberberines and synlett. The stereochemical configuration of this compound is also important for ozonolysis and peroxidation reactions. 3-Methoxyisobenzofuran-1(3H)-one has also been shown to be a useful synthetic intermediate in the synthesis of naphthalene, which can be used as a starting material for other organic syntheses.
