• Descrizione: (2E)-3-Methyl-2-hexenoic acid is a fatty acid that is metabolized by the liver to 3-hydroxy-3-methylhexanoic acid. This compound has been shown to be effective in the treatment of chronic schizophrenia, with clinical studies showing that it may be more effective than other anti-schizophrenia drugs. (2E)-3-Methyl-2-hexenoic acid has also been shown to have antibiotic properties against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It has also been shown to be effective in treating infectious diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis. (2E)-3-Methyl-2-hexenoic acid binds to bacterial enzymes, inhibiting their function and preventing them from replicating DNA. This binding prevents the formation of an antibiotic inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis
