2-Methoxy-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane is a Grignard reagent that is used in organic synthesis. It can be synthesized by the reaction of magnesium and carbon chains with an alkaline hydrolysis. The hydrazone product obtained from this reaction can be converted to pyridine compounds in high yield with catalytic amounts of pyridine. 2-Methoxy-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane has been shown to have antiinflammatory properties. This may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase activity.
