Descrizione:5-Methyl-2-hexanone (5ME) is a hydroxyl group containing compound that is used as a glycol ether in the synthesis of polyester and acrylic resins. It is also used as a solvent for lacquers, nitrocellulose, and cellulose acetate. 5ME has been detected in the urine of people who have been exposed to high levels of light, such as welders or those who work with photographic film. 5ME can be absorbed through skin and can cause irritation, dermatitis, and sensitization reactions. When applied to the proximal tubules of rats it produced renal damage that was attributed to its reactive properties.
