Descrizione:Methyl 13-methylmyristate is a pesticide that is used as an insecticide and nematicide. It is a hexadecanoic methyl ester that has been shown to have hepatoprotective properties. In addition, it has been shown to have antihistaminic and antiinflammatory effects. The pharmacological effect of methyl 13-methylmyristate appears to be due to its ability to inhibit the enzyme phospholipase A2, which is responsible for the release of arachidonic acid from cell membrane phospholipids. Methyl 13-methylmyristate also inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by suppressing cyclooxygenase activity. This product can be extracted from methanol and purified by recrystallization or column chromatography. It also contains saponins, which are pharmacologically active compounds that may contribute to the drug's effects on inflammation and pain sensation.
