Descrizione:Monomethyl sebacate is a polycarboxylic acid that has been used as an antimicrobial agent. It has been shown to be effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but not against other bacterial strains. Monomethyl sebacate is acidic and degradable, with a low energy content. The hydroxyl group allows for hydrogen bonding and the diphenyl ether moiety makes this molecule amide-like, which may explain its ability to inhibit the ns3 protease of hepatitis C virus. Monomethyl sebacate also binds to fatty acids in the cell membrane and inhibits lipid synthesis, leading to cell death by apoptosis or autophagy.
