Methylcyclopentadiene dimer has a particle size between 10 and 100 nm, and is used to study the reaction rate for organic acids. It has been shown that zirconium dichloride can serve as a suitable catalyst for this process. The rate of reaction increases with increasing temperature and constant pressure, with activation energies at around -150 kJ/mol.
