• Descrizione: 10,11-Methylenedioxycamptothecin (10,11-MDCT) is a nitro drug and an analog of camptothecin. It has significant cytotoxic activity against tumor cell lines and inhibits protein synthesis in these cells. 10,11-MDCT has been shown to have a binding constant with DNA of approximately 1 nM and binds to the minor groove of the DNA helix. It also has been shown to inhibit the transport of drugs across membranes that contain phospholipids. Studies on 10,11-MDCT in prostate cancer cells show that it is more potent than doxorubicin in inhibiting cell growth and inducing apoptosis. 10,11-MDCT also inhibits glycoside derivatives that are involved in the synthesis of DNA, RNA and proteins.
