Metadoxine is a medication that is used for the treatment of bowel disease. It belongs to the group of drugs called anti-inflammatory agents and has been shown to be effective in experimental models of inflammatory bowel disease. Metadoxine also has an effect on metabolic disorders, such as hepatic steatosis, which may be due to its ability to inhibit lipogenesis. Metadoxine is administered by injection into muscle or intravenously and can be used as a specific antidote in cases of methanol or ethylene glycol poisoning.
