Metazachlor is a chemical pesticide that inhibits the activity of enzymes in the fatty acid synthesis pathway. It is used to control weeds in agricultural fields and on lawns, as well as for the treatment of termites. Metazachlor has been shown to have high values for enzyme inhibition, with an analytical method capable of measuring enzyme activity. It has been shown to be toxic to mammalian cells, but does not affect microbial metabolism.
