• Descrizione: C-Methyl glyphosate is a herbicide that inhibits the growth of plants by interfering with the production of certain amino acids. It acts as an inhibitor of the enzyme 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS), which catalyzes the conversion of shikimate-3-phosphate and phosphoenolpyruvate to 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate. C-Methyl glyphosate has been shown to be toxic to humans and animals, but not plants. The mechanism for this toxicity is unknown, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit calcium ion influx into cells or its ability to bind covalently with cellular macromolecules.
