Descrizione:2-Methyl-3-furanthiol is a compound with antioxidative properties. It has been shown to inhibit the formation of butyric acid, which is a reactive byproduct of fatty acid synthesis. 2-Methyl-3-furanthiol also inhibits the formation of fatty acids, which are important for cell membrane integrity and signaling. The antioxidant activity of this compound has been demonstrated in model studies using n-hexane as an oxidative agent. 2-Methyl-3-furanthiol may have a synergistic effect with other antioxidants such as butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). This chemical is not typically used as a food additive but it may be used as an antioxidant in other applications such as in polymers or rubber products.
