The synthesis of this compound can be achieved through the condensation of methyl formate and thiourea, followed by treatment with chloride ion to produce the desired product. 4-Methyl-5-formylthiazole is also fluorescent and has electron deficient properties, which makes it useful for diagnosis and molecular modelling.
