Descrizione:4-(Methylthio)phenol is a thioanisole that has an α-hydroxyl group and a benzyl group. It is activated and can be used as a reactive intermediate in the synthesis of other organic compounds. 4-(Methylthio)phenol also shows enzyme activities, such as hydroxylase and control experiments. Activation energies have been determined for this compound. In optimal reaction conditions, butyric acid can be synthesized from 4-(methylthio)phenol, catalyzed by cationic polymerization with trifluoroacetic acid and phosphite.
