This process may result in decreased toxicity to liver cells and increased clearance of drugs from the body. 5MPIC has been shown to have a high efficiency liquid chromatography profile and to be activated at low doses. The macroscopic emissions are introduced into the atmosphere as a colorless gas, which is not toxic but can irritate the eyes and respiratory tract. The chemical reacts with oxygen in air to produce oxacillin, chlorine, and magnesium chloride; however, this reaction does not occur at a sufficient rate for significant amounts of these compounds to form.
