Descrizione:(R)-(-)-2-Methylpiperazine is a chiral molecule that has been used in clinical trials. It is a racemic mixture of two enantiomers, (R)- and (S)-2-methylpiperazine. This molecule has shown to have immunomodulatory properties, although it has not been extensively studied for clinical use. The crystal structure of this molecule was determined by x-ray diffraction and found to be homochiral. It also showed ferroelectric properties, which is unusual for amines. (R)-(-)-2-Methylpiperazine has shown hematologic toxicity in some animal models, but the functional groups responsible for this effect are unknown. There are toxicities associated with this drug such as inflammation of the skin and liver damage, but these effects may be due to its chemical structure rather than an inherent toxicity.
