4-Methyltriphenylamine is an aromatic compound that is used as a solvent. It can be synthesized in the laboratory by the reaction of 4-methylaniline and acrolein. The chloride group in 4-methyltriphenylamine makes it a good solvent for other compounds with a chloride group, including chloroform, dichloromethane, and trichloromethane. This compound absorbs UV light and emits light in the visible spectrum. It has been shown to have optical properties that are linear and can be polymerized or polymerised. 4-Methyltriphenylamine has also been shown to have redox potentials that are dependent on pH levels. This means that it will change from oxidation to reduction when placed in different environments with different pH levels.
