Descrizione

Monotropein is a dextran sulfate that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Monotropein inhibits the activation of toll-like receptor (TLR) 4 and TLR9 in macrophages, which are cells that help fight against infection. This inhibition prevents the release of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, which are proteins that mediate inflammatory responses. Monotropein also has an effect on the apoptosis pathway, suggesting it may be useful for treating bowel disease. Monotropein has been shown to bind DNA in vitro and inhibit dna binding activity, suggesting it may be effective for treating cancerous cells.
