2-Methoxybenzophenone is an organic chemical compound that is a benzoylating agent. It is used as a solid catalyst in the benzoic anhydride synthesis from 2-methoxybenzene and acetic acid. 2-Methoxybenzophenone reacts with chloride to form benzoic acid, which can be converted to other compounds with different functional groups. 2-Methoxybenzophenone also acts as an antioxidant and can inhibit acetylation reactions.
