• Descrizione: Methyl 5-iodosalicylate is an amide compound that has been found to be effective in the treatment of cancer cells. This drug is a structural analog of salicylic acid, which also exhibits anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic properties. Methyl 5-iodosalicylate is chiral and bioisosteric with salicylic acid. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human colon cancer cells in vitro. The anticancer activity of methyl 5-iodosalicylate may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis in cancer cells by inhibiting DNA synthesis and RNA transcription. Methyl 5-iodosalicylate also inhibits DNA synthesis through competitive inhibition of deoxyribonucleotide triphosphates (dNTPs).
