3-Methoxy-4-acetoxybenzoic acid is a monomer that is used in the synthesis of polymers and copolymers. It has been shown to be a transition metal complex with chloride ions and diacetates. This compound can be synthesized by reacting hydrogen peroxide with vanillic acid, which results in the formation of a peroxide group on the molecule. The diffraction, magnetic, optical techniques were used to show that this compound is a monomer. 3-Methoxy-4-acetoxybenzoic acid has been shown to have antimicrobial properties against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis.
