• Descrizione: O-Methyl-heptaethylene glycol is a glycol ether with a reactive functional group. It has minimal toxicity, and can be used in pharmacokinetic studies because it does not bind to plasma proteins. O-Methyl-heptaethylene glycol is metabolized by the liver and excreted in urine as metabolites. It binds to κ-opioid receptors that are present on the heart, causing vasodilation of coronary vessels. This drug also has natriuretic effects and may be used for the treatment of congestive heart failure. O-Methyl-heptaethylene glycol has been shown to have antiarrhythmic effects in experimental animals and can be used to treat arrhythmia associated with cardiac insufficiency due to myocardial infarction or cardiomyopathy. The crystalline polymorphs of this drug are stable in air, but decompose rapidly when heated or exposed to light.
