4-Methylstilbene is a chemical compound that is used in cross-coupling reaction for the synthesis of organic compounds. It is a terminal alkene and reacts with halides, alkynylsilanes, and other reactive methylenes to form three different types of products: alkylstibines, alkenes, and alkynes. The reaction time can be controlled by adding an appropriate base at the beginning of the process. 4-Methylstilbene has a biophysical profile that includes optical properties such as fluorescence and absorption spectra as well as electrochemical properties. 4-Methylstilbene can be obtained from sustainable sources such as styrene or citric acid.
