Sagopilone is a Chinese analog that has shown potent anticancer activity. It is a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor that inhibits cancer cell growth by preventing the activation of proteins necessary for cell division. Sagopilone has been shown to be effective against a variety of human cancers, including tumors resistant to other inhibitors. This drug has also demonstrated apoptotic effects on cancer cells, inducing programmed cell death.
