3-Nitrobenzenesulphonyl chloride is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of nucleoside analogues. It reacts with amines and other nucleophiles by nucleophilic attack, forming a dinucleotide phosphate product. The reaction rates are dependent on the acidity of the solution, which can be increased by adding an inorganic acid or an organic acid. 3-Nitrobenzenesulphonyl chloride has been shown to have antitumor activity against pancreatic cancer cells. This chemical is also reactive toward nitro groups and amines, which may lead to unwanted side reactions when it is used as a synthetic precursor for other compounds.
