Descrizione:7-Nitroindole is a hybridization analog of the base cytosine that has been used in biological studies. It has been shown to be active against microglia cells, which are involved in the inflammatory response. 7-Nitroindole's mechanism of action is not well understood; it may react with hydrochloric acid in the stomach to form nitrosamines and chloride ions, or it may react with hydrogen chloride to produce an ethyl ester. It also reacts with ethyl esters in the presence of light to form a photochemical reaction that generates fluorescence. The mechanism is not yet fully understood.
