It has been shown to have an interaction with candida parapsilosis, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cellular growth. 1-(4-Nitrophenyl)ethane-1,2-diol has also been shown to have a high yield when hydrated and isolated from c. parapsilosis cells. The intracellular levels of this compound are affected by cyclic voltammetry, which can be used as a preparative technique for this molecule.
