It is also used in the production of acetate extract, which is used in the manufacture of polyester fibers. 1-Nonadecanol can be obtained by hydrolysis of malonic acid with hydrogen peroxide and ammonia. 1-Nonadecanol has shown to have anti-infectious properties against bacteria, viruses, and fungi. It is also able to scavenge anion radicals and inhibit protein data degradation.
