Descrizione:Nickel phosphide is a synthetic chemical compound that has been used as an insecticide. It is prepared by the reaction of nickel oxide with phosphine in an organic solvent at room temperature. Nickel phosphide is used to kill insects that infest stored grain and other agricultural products. The growth of these insects can be inhibited by the presence of nickel phosphide because it inhibits their ability to synthesize proteins and nucleic acids, which are necessary for cell division and development. Nickel phosphide is also effective against mites, but not as toxic to mammals. In addition, this compound can be used in sample preparation for electron microscopic analysis.
