Descrizione:Northebaine is a synthetic process that starts with the Grignard reagent, which is a reactive intermediate. The synthesis of northebaine starts with reacting an alkyl halide, such as methyl chloride, with magnesium metal in an ether solvent to form a Grignard reagent. This reaction proceeds by adding the hydroxy group of the alcohol to the carbonyl group of the Grignard reagent followed by demethylation and quaternization, which completes the synthesis of northebaine. Northebaine is used in chemical reactions for the production of oripavine and other alkaloids. It is also used as a precursor in organic synthesis reactions.
