3-Nitro-lidocaine is a molecule that is used as an intermediate in the preparation of 3-nitro-N,N'-diethylaminobenzaldehyde. This substance is used in the preparation of colorectal surgery samples for plasma analysis. Acetonitrile, a solvent, is added to the sample and the mixture is then purified by electrospray ionization or photodestruction. The purified sample can then be analyzed using linear range, monitoring and detection techniques to detect concentrations of 3-nitro-lidocaine in plasma samples. Symptoms such as redness, swelling and pain are often caused by this drug's use. Chromatography may also be used to analyze 3-nitro-lidocaine in plasma samples.
