Descrizione:4-Nitroveratrole is a nitro compound that is used as an intermediate in chemical synthesis. It has been shown to be a promising drug for the treatment of cancer, specifically lymphoma and leukemia. This drug may also be useful for the treatment of other diseases such as arthritis. 4-Nitroveratrole is an aromatic amine with a methyl group at the ortho position to the nitrogen atom, which leads to its demethylation by reaction with sodium methoxide or piperonyl butoxide. The mechanism of this reaction involves nucleophilic attack by the methyl substituent on the N-O bond, leading to formation of a new C-O bond and release of methanol.
