Descrizione:Norgestrel is a synthetic progestin that is used in hormonal contraceptives. It is also used to treat endometriosis, uterine bleeding, and other conditions. Norgestrel has been found to bind to the progesterone receptor and inhibit the secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). This drug also inhibits hepatic lipase activity and may reduce body mass index by increasing lipid metabolism. Basic fibroblasts incubated with nomegestrol acetate show an increased production of leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) and neurotrophic factors that are important for cell growth and differentiation.
