The fatty acid group found in 3-nitrobenzyl alcohol increases its solubility in water and facilitates penetration into lipid bilayers. This compound exhibits cytotoxicity against monoclonal antibody-positive B cell lymphoma cells and may also have anti-inflammatory properties due to its inhibition of picolinic acid synthesis.
