Descrizione:Nequinate is an amide that is an inhibitor of microbial protein synthesis. It binds to the ribosomal 30S subunit and inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the ribosomal A site. Nequinate also inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell wall polymers and has antimicrobial activity against a number of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It is not active against fungi, protozoa, or viruses. Nequinate can be used as a fluorescent dye with a fluorescence detector for biological samples such as blood, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, or other body fluids. In addition, nequinate inhibits benzalkonium chloride-induced hemolysis in human erythrocytes. Nequinate also has been shown to inhibit metabolic disorders such as congestive heart failure and diabetes in animal models.
