• Descrizione: Alpha-naphthyl butyrate is a monomer of polybutyrate and is used as an intermediate in the production of polybutylene terephthalate. This product is also used for biological studies and has been shown to have acute toxicities. Alpha-naphthyl butyrate has been shown to inhibit esterase and enzyme activities, and it is more toxic than butyric acid. Alpha-naphthyl butyrate can be used for the diagnosis of certain types of chronic viral hepatitis, such as hepatitis B virus or hepatitis C virus, by detecting human immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies against this compound.
