Descrizione:Octacosanol is a mixture of eight fatty alcohols that can be found in wheat germ oil. It has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects and may be useful for the treatment of bowel disease. Octacosanol has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to prevent the release of prostaglandin E2 from macrophages, thereby inhibiting the production of inflammatory mediators. It also binds to 2-adrenergic receptors and is thought to regulate energy metabolism by increasing levels of ATP in cells. Octacosanol is commonly used for elderly patients with metabolic disorders such as type II diabetes or hyperlipidemia.
