Oxociprofloxacin inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication. This drug also has a toxic effect on respiratory system cells, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis. Oxociprofloxacin has been shown to inhibit lymphocyte transformation in humans, which may be due to its uv absorption properties. Oxociprofloxacin has also been shown to have potential interactions with caffeine, as well as other drugs such as warfarin or cimetidine.
