Pentafluorophenyl trifluoroacetate has been shown to react with amide groups on proteins in the cell membrane, which leads to changes in the permeability of the membrane and cell death. This drug also reacts with carbonyl groups on proteins in the cell, which alters their function, leading to cell death.
