Trifluroroboranes are a class of ligands that have been used as potent and selective inhibitors of isoxazoles. Trifluroroborane potassium (TFBK) is one such example, which inhibits the growth of malaria-causing parasites by preventing the production of ATP. TFBK has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the malaria parasite in humans and human cells. TFBK has also been shown to inhibit other biological processes, including DNA synthesis, protein synthesis, and lipid metabolism.
