• Descrizione: Senktide is a substance P analog that has been shown to produce tail-flick responses in animals. The maximum response of the tail-flick test can be enhanced by the administration of either dopamine or serotonin. Inhibition of metabolism is likely to be responsible for these effects, as demonstrated by experiments in Sprague-Dawley rats. Senktide is an experimental model for studying the role of substance P in the regulation of blood pressure and locomotor activity. This compound also has pressor properties that are similar to those of dopamine and serotonin, which may be due to its ability to stimulate alpha-adrenergic receptors and inhibit dopaminergic neurons via a presynaptic mechanism.
