In addition, perinaphthenone has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential and reactive oxygen species generation in human neutrophils, making it a promising drug candidate for infectious diseases. The high values achieved by this molecule suggest that it may be useful as a model system to study the molecular basis of antimicrobial resistance.
