Descrizione:3-(Pyrimidin-2-yl)benzaldehyde (3PB) is a potent inhibitor of ester transfer protein. 3PB has been shown to be an effective replacement for cholesteryl esters in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and atherosclerosis, as it inhibits the cholesteryl ester transfer protein that is involved in the synthesis of cholesterol. The molecule has also been shown to inhibit other enzymes, such as phospholipases, by modifying their active site cholesteryl esters. 3PB has also been shown to have properties that are similar to those of statins, which are drugs used to lower levels of LDL cholesterol.
