- 3,4-Pyridinedicarboxylic anhydride
Pyridine-3,4-dicarboxylic anhydride is a synthetic compound that is used in pharmaceutical preparations. It is a yellow solid that is soluble in water. Pyridine-3,4-dicarboxylic anhydride has been shown to inhibit the locomotor activity of rats and exhibits fluorescence properties. It also can be used as a cavity filling agent for dentistry, and has been found to have vibrational and redox potentials. Pyridine-3,4-dicarboxylic anhydride can be used in acylation reactions or the Houben-Hoesch reaction to form quinolizine derivatives. This chemical has been isolated with a yield of 100%. The substance decarboxylates under hydrochloric acid conditions to form pyridine-3,4-dicarboxaldehyde. Pyridine-3,4-dicarboxylic anhydride is also known
