Piperazine is a chemical compound that has been used as a pharmacological agent. It is structurally similar to the amino acid piperidine and is also related to other chemical compounds such as malonic acid. Piperazine inhibits enzymes by acting as an enzyme inhibitor, specifically targeting aminopeptidases and carboxypeptidases, which are involved in protein synthesis. This drug also has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used for the treatment of infectious diseases such as malaria. The optimum concentration for this drug is at about 50 mM, with a maximum thermal expansion of about 0.5% per degree Celsius at 100°C. At this concentration, it will inhibit the activity of aminopeptidase and carboxypeptidase enzymes by about 80%.
