6-Phenylpyridin-2(1H)-one is a macrocyclic compound that is synthesized by the reaction of ethylene with chloride in acrylonitrile. It has been used in the synthesis of other heterocyclic compounds. 6-Phenylpyridin-2(1H)-one has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the synthesis of methides and also has good activity for the production of chlorides.
