Potassium tetraphenylborate (KPB) is a hydroxide solution that is used in pharmaceutical preparations. It can be prepared by the reaction of potassium with boron trichloride and ethylene diamine. KPB is an analytical reagent for the determination of hydroxide ions, which can be determined gravimetrically. The conversion of KPB to its hydroxide form has been shown to have a pH-dependent activation energy.
