Descrizione:Poly(ethyl methacrylate) is a polymer that is synthesized by the reaction of anhydrous ethyl alcohol with acrylic acid. It is used as a coating material for medical devices and other products, such as contact lenses and intraocular lenses, because it is transparent and nontoxic. Poly(ethyl methacrylate) has been shown to have good water permeability and can be used in the manufacture of contact lenses. This polymer also has a phase transition temperature of about 32 °C and can be used in applications where heat resistance is needed. Poly(ethyl methacrylate) is soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, benzene, chloroform, ether, or tetrahydrofuran. Average Mw ~515,000 by GPC.
